Hi,
I'm currently facing this issue, that as soon as I switch off my HDMI connected external monitor, the taskbar disappears and plasma 5 reacts strange.
As soon as I switch on my monitor (e.g after a lunch break) the taskbar is gone, and for instance I am no longer able to right click on the desktop. All icons have disappeared as well on the desktop...
However, I am able to launch applications through ALT+F2 and therefore I am able to start a terminal and reboot. After that everything behaves as usual...
Did this happen to anyone else before? Is this maybe a known bug?
I don't even get an error message, that the taskbar crashed....
your thoughts please,
thanks
theresa

after some googling, I found out that it's in fact a known bug....a really annoying bug.
there's a workaround in case this problem occurs again.
If the panel/taskbar disappears and nothing seems to work (other than logout or reboot)
then try this
press ALT+space or ALT+F2 and type in the following.
kquitapp5 plasmashell ; /usr/bin/plasmashell --shut-up
this fixed it for me.

hopefully this is going to be fixed for good, some time soon!!
