VirtualBox crashes when trying to add an ISO [SOLVED]

Hi there,

So I'm trying to create a new Windows 10 VM. I have all the settings ready to go, but when I try to add an ISO either by a SATA or IDE  under Settings - Storage VirtualBox crashes without any message. I tried starting the VM and it then asks me for the ISO. I click to search for the ISO on my external drive and I get the below error:

Failed to open a session for the virtual machine Windows 10.

The VM session was aborted.

Result Code: NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005)
Component: SessionMachine
Interface: ISession {7844aa05-b02e-4cdd-a04f-ade4a762e6b7}

Any idea what would cause this? I'm running this on a Lenovo Ideapad I installed arch on last week.

Thaks ahead of time for the help.,

Re: VirtualBox crashes when trying to add an ISO [SOLVED]

Are you running GNOME 3 as your desktop? I had the same issue under GNOME's Wayland session. Switching back to Xorg makes Virtualbox work as normal.

That was it! Thank you for the help. I thought Wayland was the way to go. Unfortunately I can't use it it if I want to use Virtualbox.

Anytime. If you haven't already, it might be worth submitting a bug here: https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Bugtracker
