Browsers freeze up system with 2-3 instances

Ive had this problem for years, but have been dealing with it and avoiding complaining or asking questions.  The latter because i was hoping to search for a solution, but have yet to find one. Long story short, when i have 2 -3 instances of a browser (like opera, Vivaldi,  midori and such) open, the system slows to a crawl and eventually becomes unusable. The problem doesnt occur with firefox, but i don't desire to use that browser for my daily activities.  I have seen in htop that the cpu usage maxes out in these situations and id like help figuring out the source of this issue. Please let me know what information is needed from me to pinpoint the source of these problems. Thank you.
