Depends how you start X. If you use startx, you need to put
exec icewm-session
in your ~/.xinitrc
If your using xdm or slim, put the same exec line in ~/.xsession.
Offline
Put to ~/.xinitrc or ~/.xsession exec icewm-session possible with nano? as follows:
# nano -w ~/.xinitrc
yes?
And there better put exec icewm-session, to ~/.xinitrc or ~/.xsession?

Yeah, nano is fine - any editor will do.
Like I said before - ~/.xinitrc if you use startx, ~/.xsession if you use xdm/slim.

If I got you right,
you simply have to do a
# pacman -S opera
Opera is in the extra repostory, so make sure, that your /etc/pacman.conf looks like this:
:
[extra]
# Add your preferred servers here, they will be used first
Include = /etc/pacman.d/extra
:
If you have to change the pacman.conf you will have to do a
# pacman -Sy
before you can install opera.

If you don't feel like editing the menu file by hand :
pacman -S menumaker
heuristics-driven menu generator for Deskmenu, FluxBox, IceWM, OpenBox, WindowMaker and XFCE in python.
1 comment : the menu created by menumaker is VERY LARGE
P.S.
IceWM is a good, but unique type WM/DE.
Both Kde and Gnome have lots more similarities with windows than IceWM.
Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.
clean chroot building not flexible enough ?
Try clean chroot manager by graysky

In Arch it's way simpler:
1. open terminal
2. su
3. pacman -S opera
4. change back to normal user
5. type "opera" & press enter

I think, using another Linux Distro, some "userfriendly" would be the best solution for you.
You should have a look at Kubuntu or Suse Linux.

Thanks.
How about trustix linux? Dit it easy install?

Try Kubuntu/Ubuntu. It´s really easy to install and very userfriendly.
It is based on Debian. So there are many many packages.
Another important reason. There´s a really BIG community already. So u´ll find help to nearly everything in the Forums and wiki.

Or you could stick to Arch but actually look some information up yourself. Just a thought.
