Tooltips artifacts with GTK+ 2 programs

Looks like this:
MGXS1Wn.png
Happens not always, but quite often. Maybe other toolkits are also affected, but most of programs that I regularly use are GTK+ 2.
Radeon R9 280X, Mesa drivers, xf86-video-ati with TearFree enabled. I use XFCE and Compton as compositor.
Does anyone know how to solve this?

Sounds and looks like https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=1676607 except for the GPU
Ensure it also happens uncomposited and post glxinfo and xorg log.
Maybe try another gtk+ theme (using a different engine!)

For me it also happens with all GTK+ 2 apps, and artifacts look different. Anyway, it seems that disabling compton fixed the issue. I don't know whether the problem was caused by compton itself or by compositing in general, will check it on Plasma 5.

glxinfo
Xorg.0.log
compton.conf:

backend = "glx"
paint-on-overlay = true
unredir-if-possible = true
glx-no-stencil = true

UPD: It doesn't happen in Plasma 5, so it's clearly a compton's issue. I switched to xfwm's built-in compositing, too bad it uses xrender instead of glx, which can (?) affect performance. Maybe tweaking of compton's settings will remove this artifacts.
