Arch base : Linux designbox 4.8.13-1-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Fri Dec 9 07:24:34 CET 2016 x86_64 GNU/Linux
With group deepin and deepin-extras slapped on and updated to v15.3 (and of course some none-deepin applications).
As far as I know deepin-cogl is a new package. The dates on its repo page confirm this.
I do not have it installed.
I did a dry-run of a full system upgrade with the following result. And immediately spotted the package deepin-cogl.
Against better judgement I opted for installation. Suspicion was confirmed and I cancelled out.

[robert@designbox ~]# After researching the dependencies a bit, I've come to the conclusion that removing either of the 2 packages in conflict (cogl and deepin-cogl) will break my WM.
deepin-mutter depends on clutter and deepin-cogl.
While clutter depends on cogl.
So the way I see it, both are required.
On top of that :
deepin-cogl is "Required By" clutter : https://www.archlinux.org/packages/comm … epin-cogl/ (2nd browser window in screenshot.) Error?
but
clutter does not have a dependcy on deepin-cogl : https://www.archlinux.org/packages/extr … 4/clutter/ (4th browser window in screenshot.) It depends on cogl.
I retreat until this is clearer (to me). Looking into this further.
A good and clear explanation from people with packaging experience is appreciated.

deepin-cogl "provides" cogl. This suggests that it is a drop-in replacement. If it isn't, file a bug report. If you want to avoid installing deepin-cogl altogether, find out what is pulling it in (the update for something on your system depends on it explicitly) and remove it.

I realise that cogl is provided by deepin-cogl.
But deepin-cogl is pulled in (as a new requirement) by deepin-mutter (which is already installed of course because I'm running Deepin).
So I can't remove deepin-mutter. It's my WM.
The current situation is as in the following screenshot.
deepin-cogl is not a dependency of deepin-mutter. Yet!
But clutter (which depends on cogl) is a dependency of deepin-mutter at the moment. And will still be so after the update.
And deepin-cogl will be a new additional dependency according to the dry-run and conflict warning posted before in the screenshot.
Alas clutter is also still a dependency of deepin-mutter after the update. And clutter depends on cogl.
So I can't remove cogl, nor deepin-cogl until I know which one is safe remove.
clutter might whinge that cogl is not installed (when I opt to uninstall cogl).
deepin-mutter might whinge that deepin-cogl is not installed (when I opt to uninstall deepin-cogl).
I'm just unsure which one of the 2 conflicting packages to uninstall.

It shouldn't do, as deepin-cogl "provides" cogl. This means that, as far as pacman is concerned, if you remove cogl in favour of deepin-cogl, "cogl" is still installed, but as a virtual package provided by deepin-cogl. Anything that depends on "cogl" should be quite happy to work with deepin-cogl instead.
Like I said though, if you find this isn't the case, you should file a bug report.

I didn't know about "but as a virtual package provided by deepin-cogl".
I'm going to remove cogl in favour of deepin-cogl then. Against the default of the conflict.
I will post the result.
Alright. I'm going in. Keep me covered.

Ah, the default in this case is to do nothing. Don't misinterpret this as the recommended action, it's simply the safest response. It's better to abort the complete transaction (in case someone is running with --noconfirm) then plow ahead with something that might not be expected or welcomed.

So that is the reason not to uninstall the already installed. Fair enough.
But I just was wanton and replied with "y" to "deepin-cogl an cogl are in conflict. Remove cogl? [y/N]".
All is still OK. The windows and their hardware acceleration.
Thanks for your explanation. It helped me to pull the trigger.
