Resolution of Terminal/Desktop in Arch Guest (Virtualbox), i3 as WM

Hi everbody smile

I'm new to Arch Linux, been running Ubuntu/Mint for 3 years, I have relatively decent experience working with the terminal and linux administration in general.

I am running Arch Linux as a Virtualbox Guest, the installation process was easy, however, setting up the WM and resolution turns out to give me a headache.

This is what I got so far:

That's what I'd like to have in the end:

As you can see, the desktop has a bad resolution. Also the font in the terminal weirdly overlaps for some letters. How do I fix that?

Why do screenfetch and inxi -b show different results for resolution, apparently they refer to different subjects, but where do I modify the latter (117x64).

What I tried out so far:

- xrandr --output VGA-1 --mode 1920x1080

-Adding the following Kernel-Parameter to /boot/syslinux/syslinux.cfg in the line:
APPEND root=/dev/sda1 video=1600x1200

How do I get the Arch guest to adopt the VM window size? From other distros I'm used that I can make the window smaller and the whole desktop is altered to fit into that size. How do I make that happen?
Installing Virtualbox Guest Additions and activating those services did not do the job hmm

Answers to these questions and/or recommendations/comments are very welcome smile
Many thanks in advance!
