Neither firefox or thunderbird uses the font I chooses it to use. All monospace fonts looks all jigged, and even if I set monospace in preferences to show Times New Roman for instance, it still shows a way to small "courier" like thing.
I use a 1280x800, with 100 dpi. The following font packages is installed. No local font.conf. Tried the Xorg-font page on the wiki without any luck.
ttf-ms-fonts 1.3-8
xorg-font-utils 1.0.1-1
xorg-fonts-100dpi 1.0.0-2
xorg-fonts-75dpi 1.0.0-2
xorg-fonts-alias 1.0.1-1
xorg-fonts-encodings 1.0.0-1
xorg-fonts-misc 1.0.0-2
xorg-fonts-type1 1.0.0-2
I just want my monospace font to be Courier New, without antialias of any kind.
This is how it looks right now:http://carebears.mine.nu/~solskogen/temp/fonts.png

was to edit .fonts.conf, and add
<match target="pattern" name="family">
<test name="family" qual="any">
<string>Courier</string>
</test>
<edit name="family" mode="assign">
<!-- Other choices - Courier New, Luxi Mono -->
<string>Courier New</string>
</edit>
</match>
