Error in detecting HDMI connection

Hi all,

As the title says, I have problems connecting my external monitor to the HDMI port on my laptop.

When I connect the monitor via HDMI, XFCE display settings pop up, but they don't recognize any monitor than the laptop monitor itself.

RandR doesn't recognize it as well. Output of

 xrandr

is:

Screen 0: minimum 8 x 8, current 1920 x 1080, maximum 32767 x 32767
eDP1 connected 1920x1080+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 350mm x 190mm
   1920x1080 60.02*+

   720x405 60.00
   640x360 60.00
DP1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
DP2 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
HDMI1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
HDMI2 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
VIRTUAL1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)

The HDMI cable IS connected.

What could be the problem, and what should I do to fix it?

Thank you in advance!
