KDE Doesn't Detect Sound Card

I'm running an Intel CherryTrail based device and I have to used a patched kernel to get it to detect audio out over HDMI, or the sound card in general. I have confirmed that the soundcard works since when I issue speaker-test -c 2 I hear white noise, the thing is in alsa-mixer and kmix there aren't any audio devices that can be configured. Also when I play a video in any media player I don't have sound. Any idea how to remedy this?

 [bran@pico ~]$ aplay -L
null
Discard all samples (playback) or generate zero samples (capture)
default:CARD=IntelHDMI
    IntelHDMI, IntelHDMI
    Default Audio Device
sysdefault:CARD=IntelHDMI
    IntelHDMI, IntelHDMI
    Default Audio Device

Edit: Ok this just got more interesting....I wasn't sure if YouTube would work or not, so I queued up any video and to my surprise there was audio! I'm using Chrome, though I doubt that it matters. This just confuses me even further because now it's a selective sound issue.
