I already have in the file
/etc/pam.d/cinnamon-screensaver
Following entry
auth sufficient pam_fprintd.so
Otherwise the fingerprint authentication works very well, only the cinnamon-screensaver only asks for the password.
Does somebody has any idea?
Thanks in advance.

I am having this issue too (my laptop is technically on Manjaro not Arch, but potato po-tah-to). Same setup as you, and it worked fine with cinnamon-screensaver until an upgrade sometime in the past few weeks. Now it no longer works.

I have the same problem trying to use fingerprint-gui. Looking through journalctl there seems to be no entry relevant to fingerprint-gui being called, even if the parameter -d is passed for debugging output. It seems to me that the problem might have to do with pam handling in cinnamon-screensaver.

This issue has been fixed in the latest release of cinnamon-screensaver (see this commit).
