Hello,
I don't want to use anymore the floppy drive, so i made a lsmod to see what was the name of that module. I found one called "ide-floppy", so i added it to the black list of the modules in "rc.conf". Restarted the system, and, the module has been loaded :-(
So, i'm in doubt if that module is loaded by another one.
What am i missing?
Thanks!

lsmod | grep floppy
You can see which other module is using the ide-floppy module.
A bus station is where a bus stops.
A train station is where a train stops.
On my desk I have a workstation.

humm, i'm at work, i can't do that, but i quite sure that i made that to see what was the name of the floppy module, and the only output was "ide-floppy". But i'll repeat it at home.

I may be wrong, but I don't think ide-floppy is the module for normal floppy devices. I may be wrong!

To get rid of the floppy module, you'll need to customize your initrd (or initramfs depending which one you use):

Yes, customizing my initrd, doesn't load the ide-floppy module.
But, what i really really want, is that the floppy doesn't exists itself. In other words, i don't want nor /dev/fd0 nor the floppy in KDE, Gnome...
What i thought in the beginning, was that not loadind the floppy module, the floppy would desappear from the whole system. Now, i think, that i would play with the udev configuration, isn't it? (or open the PC box, and extract it ;-)
Thanks

if you dont want /dev/fd0 and any other references, then removing ide-floppy would do what you want. as well as your initrd make sure you also blacklist it in your rc.conf if you have autoload enabled.

Err... just remove your floppy drive so IDE doesn't detect ti anymore...
