After the update of harfbuzz from 1.3.4-1 to 1.4.1-1, I'm not able to start Virtualbox.
I'm getting this message:
$ virtualbox
VirtualBox: supR3HardenedMainGetTrustedMain: dlopen("/usr/lib/virtualbox/VirtualBox.so",) failed: /usr/lib/libharfbuzz.so.0: undefined symbol: FT_Get_Var_Blend_Coordinates

Update your broken freetype2.

Oh.. So as I'm using freetype2-infinality-ultimate, I guess I'll need to wait for an update, right?
Is there an workaround for this?

I don't think there is going to be an update, you either have to do it yourself or go back to the repo packages.

Not a Pacman issue, moving to AUR Issues...

Thanks!

Are you saying this because you suspect that infinality is dead? I guess this means that we should recommend against installation in the wiki?

If those patches are no longer updated, best to just remove it from the wiki page (and AUR). The longer the more obsolete infinality gets anyway, as upstream keeps merging new features.

It looks like the AUR package may be updated, it's just bohoomil's repo that's dead. We'll see what happens.

The broken "freetype2-infinality-ultimate" from bohoomil's repo is at 2.6.3. Vanilla freetype2 is at 2.7.1, but the AUR package "freetype2-infinality" is on 2.7. So I guess the AUR package is only slightly lagging behind.

IMO, the Vanilla freetype2 with infinality-bundle-fonts yield quite the same result as infinality-ultimate.
However, thanks bohoomil for his hard work.

Thanks for that information. I was considering moving back to the "normal" fonts too. FWIW some of the infinality also lag behind. For example, ttf-symbola-ib is 8.00-2, and ttf-symbola is 9.00-1; ttf-dejavu-ib is 2.35-2, and ttf-dejavu is 2.37-1. I'm not sure if that is important or not, though.
I can't notice much difference after reverting to vanilla freetype2 on my system. I'll try reverting to the vanilla fonts too, and see if there is any difference.

Btw, I created two meta packages to ease the migration to “normal” font packages, feel free to check them out:
fonts-meta-base
fonts-meta-extended-lt
(I also made a semi-announcement here if you’re interested.)
