Question about NVME ssd and swap partition

Hi, i'm concerned about having a swap partition on an Nvme ssd.

On:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/So … rives/NVMe
I read that Intel recommends:

Note: Contrary to recommendations for SSDs, NVMe devices should not be issued discards.

Anybody knows if that applies to the following?
https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/Fe … uning.html

The Linux swap code will issue TRIM commands to TRIM-enabled devices, and there is no option to control this behaviour.

thanks.

Re: Question about NVME ssd and swap partition

i understand discard to be a trim applied on every transaction. Correct and default method for ssd if to do trim periodiclly (opensuse default is once per week). I think you are conflating issues and worrying excessivly.

Re: Question about NVME ssd and swap partition

The point is that periodic trim (fstrim) does not work on swap partitions, so discard is used there.
