[SOLVED] gnome-shell dumps core after recent upgrade

Hi everyone!

After a recently performed update (on the 8th of January, late last night), now I cannot login anymore into my Gnome 3 Desktop. When I login using GDM, it seems to load the desktop for a brief while but then returns to the login screen, not starting the desktop.

I checked journalctl, and it shows a lot of gnome-shell related errors and that a core dump by gnome-shell. Now I downgraded all my packages to the ALA repo of the 5th of Jan, and everything is working fine again. Is someone else experiencing the same problem?

- Output of journalctl with stack traces of coredump: http://pastebin.com/wr8JJfk2
- List of updated packages one of which caused this problem: http://pastebin.com/NxPvTkbG

Some help with next steps would be greatly appreciated.

Best,
Sander

First question without looking at the logs: what version of freetype2 are you using?

I am using the infinality-freetype repo, but I see now that the Arch wiki considers this repo outdated/dead. Would switching to freetype from the official packages do the trick?
