[SOLVED] pulseaudio noise in silence

When no sound playing I can hear something like motherboard noise, its probably not motherboard noise, because its not changing itself, but when I pause audacious playback noise appear with different frequency and volume

If I install "alsa-utils" and stop user session pulseaudio.socket and service - no noise when playback is paused

No such noise in Windows 10

This noise is quite annoying, anyone have such problem?

[SOLUTION]

/etc/pulse/daemon.conf

default-sample-rate = 48000

Re: [SOLVED] pulseaudio noise in silence

It seems I found possible problem

setting

default-sample-rate = 48000

in /etc/pulse/daemon.conf
reduced noise, even if I use player that uses 44kHz sample rate when I pause there is no noise, to be true I can still hear something, but its acceptable for me

I have no idea why is it happening

Re: [SOLVED] pulseaudio noise in silence

Hello!

Have you tried all suggestions on PulseAudios troubleshooting wiki under audio quality section?

Regards
Martin

It is advised to follow the How to post guide when posting on the Arch forum. If one consciously jumps over these elementary steps like reading the wiki and providing necessary information about the problem, one can be regarded as a Help Vampire.

Re: [SOLVED] pulseaudio noise in silence

Yes i tried all except "default-sample-rate = 48000", thought it is not related to me as I didn't have choppy/distorted sound, but seems its my problem

Well, after few days I didn't hear any noise when no sound playing with this setting, solved

Re: [SOLVED] pulseaudio noise in silence

The past week or so I've been having light crackling sometimes while playing audio.  Not really the same issue, but I'm just I'm trying anything at this point

EDIT:

It didn't fix my problem, back to square 1!

Hi traviscthall,

It might be better to open a new thread and then link back to this one if you find it relevant. See the "rules of thumb" here: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Co … bumping.22

Double check the pulseaudio troubleshooting page because, as a pulse user myself, I've fairly recently updated bits of that wiki section. Check it out. smile
