[SOLVED] libastro breaks dependency

Hello,

I have a problem during upgrade. The last successful upgrade I performed was 2 days ago (16.12.2016).

:: Starting full system upgrade...
:: Replace kdebase-kdialog with extra/kdialog? [Y/n]
:: Replace kdebase-keditbookmarks with extra/keditbookmarks? [Y/n]
:: Replace kdebase-kfind with extra/kfind? [Y/n]
:: Replace kdebase-konq-plugins with extra/konqueror? [Y/n]
:: Replace kdebase-konqueror with extra/konqueror? [Y/n]
:: Replace kdeedu-ktouch with extra/ktouch? [Y/n]
:: Replace kdegraphics-okular with extra/okular? [Y/n]
:: Replace kdemultimedia-audiocd-kio with extra/audiocd-kio? [Y/n]
:: Replace kdeutils-kgpg with extra/kgpg? [Y/n]
:: Replace konsolekalendar with extra/akonadi-calendar-tools? [Y/n]
:: Replace ktnef with extra/kmail? [Y/n]
:: Replace libastro with extra/marble? [Y/n]
resolving dependencies...
error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)
:: libmarble4: removing libastro breaks dependency 'libastro'

If I try to skip libastro (answer "no" to "Replace libastro with extra/marble?"), I get another error:

:: kmail-account-wizard and kdepim-common are in conflict. Remove kdepim-common? [y/N]

How to resolve those conflicts?

Thanks!

Re: [SOLVED] libastro breaks dependency

Why do you have libmarble4 installed? Is it needed by anything?

Re: [SOLVED] libastro breaks dependency

I though it might have been installed by "kde-applications-meta" (kde-meta-kdeedu, to be exact) - but now I'm not sure.
Maybe it's some kind of remains of KDE 4, that I didn't remove when upgrading to KDE/Plasma 5. I'll try to uninstall it.
Thanks.

Possibly. All I know about it hasn't been in the official repositories since late last year, and it's not in the AUR. Unless you've made a conscious decision to keep it around, you probably don't need it any more.

You should probably check that you don't have any other unneeded remnants.

Re: [SOLVED] libastro breaks dependency

Thanks for the link WorMzy.   I had been having upgrade problems with dependancy clashes which I hadn't been able to work out.  Turns out I also had some old KDE 4 remnants.

Looks like I need to add the orphan link to my system maintenance routines!
