<Solved> System Damaged - How to recover

Hi

My system had a poweroff as the battery drained out. I just had updated the system, but not rebooted.

Now:
1. wifi isnt working.
2. in openbox I cannot do anything, as things are loading too slow: fonts disappearing and applications seemed hanged or non-responsive.
3. In cinnamon I only get the cursor, but nothing else appears after login of even 5 minutes.
4 Rebooting or shutsdow is taking upto 10 minutes with tasks ending very slow. Hard shutdown is the fastest work around.

What I achieved:
1. Chroot via debian is working. So I again updated the system but nothing resolved.
2. Command prompt seems to be okay.

Kindly advise: should I fresh install arch or recovery is possible.

Thankyou

Re: <Solved> System Damaged - How to recover

Check the versions reported by uname -a and pacman -Q linux
Are they the same?  This assumes you are using the stock kernel.  If not, check the kernel you are using with that second command

Re: <Solved> System Damaged - How to recover

Could be a hardware issue. Run some tests with your debian installation (is it on the same HD? or on a USB stick?). Test your graphics card and your HD/SSD. Also check if the modules are loaded correctly.

Re: <Solved> System Damaged - How to recover

I don't have access to a machine with Realtek hardware.  You might try the steps shown here: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Wi … Frtl8723be

I am also concerned:

[ 24.312350] rtl8723be: Using firmware rtlwifi/rtl8723befw_36.bin
[ 24.353445] rtl8723be 0000:09:00.0: Direct firmware load for rtlwifi/rtl8723$
[ 24.353448] rtlwifi: Selected firmware is not available

Do others with this chipset see this message?

Well debian (8.0/stable) on the same internal hard disk seems to run fine, and there seems to be no issues, presently.

But Arch isnt responding, well this wasnt the first time battery drained or the suspend failed to a improper shutdown.

Prior to the system getting faulty, it was working, though not 100% pleasant.

Re: <Solved> System Damaged - How to recover

Should I simply reinstall then?
