today i download xfree4.40 in the testing directory on archlinux ftp,
but when i use
pacman -U xfree-4.40-1.pkg.tar.gz
it said confilct with ttf-bitstearm-vera and ask me to remove this package ,but whether i chioce yes or no ,the upgrade can't proceed.
pacman -Uf xfree-4.40-1.pkg.tar.gz has the same error.
now the question is how to upgrade the xfree4.40?

According to apeiro's comments on the mailing list, you can safely do a
pacman -Sf
of this package.

edit /var/lib/pacman/local/ttf-bitstream-vera/depends
remove required by xfree86
edit /var/lib/pacman/local/ttf-bitstream-vera/depends
remove depends ttf-bitstream-vera
now
pacman -R ttf-bitstream-vera
pacman -U xfree86-4.4.0-1.pkg.tar.gz
ok, startx now you in xfree86 4.4.0

don't see any speed improve ,but graphic like faster(my card is nv geforce),
but ,my gtk1 application font look strange (chinese font ),now i am found the problem..(
if you only use gtk2 application ,every thing is ok!

Yea, that'll work. Actually, 4.4 provides the bitstream vera fonts itself, so you don't even need the package installed. You could just:
# pacman -Rd ttf-bitstream-vera
# pacman -Uf xfree86-4.4.0-1.pkg.tar.gz
arm: don't do that now though, cuz you've already overwritten the bitstream fonts. If you --remove bitstream, you'll have to re-install the X package.
