Every now and then my screen res is 1024x768 rather than 1280x1024. Re-loading xfce, or even logging out and in again doesnt seem to help - I have to actualy restart.
Also, changing the screen res using xfce's settings manager locks up Xorg & needs a reboot.
Any pointers?

Bump - this is really annoying. It only happens every now and then, the maximum screen resolution is 1024 rather than 1280 - but for no good reason. Everything works as normal as soon as I restart - I dont even know where to begin looking - any help would be hugely appreciated.

My xorg.conf has changed since my last post, now only have the following:

Could the vesa driver be a problem? I couldnt install the proprietry nvidia drivers, (I tried but apparantly it's a bug in pacman thats fixed in the latest cvs, and I cant be bothered with cvs, so I figured i'd just wait for a while).

Maybe. If the proprietary one doesn't work, you can try the open source "nv" (xf86-video-nv), then you can see if that's the problem.
Do you use framebuffer by the way? If so it might be worth a shot turning it off. Does it happen every other soft reboot or when you do hard reboots too (power off and on)?
