freetype2 renders unnaturaly wide font

I think a screenshot explains it sufficiently:

See, how the configuration window displays the preview correctly, but when Applied, the actual window has a weird wide version.

Firefox renders the font correctly however (at the very bottom):

is there some bug in Qt, or some weird fontconfig setting I'm missing?

$ uname -roms && qtdiag | grep release
Linux 4.8.13-1-ARCH x86_64 GNU/Linux
Qt 5.7.1 (x86_64-little_endian-lp64 shared (dynamic) release build; by GCC 6.3.1 20170109) on "xcb"

$ fc-match -v monospace

Re: freetype2 renders unnaturaly wide font

This is also hat I have now after upgrading to freetype 2.7.1.
I've change back the Subpixel rendering to the default mode of 2.6.7 but I still got very wide font in my urxvt.
