X keeps restarting after logout

I am using xorg-server 1.19.1-1, Cinnamon 3.2.8 and lightdm 1.20.0.  When I log out from Cinnamon I never get to see the lightdm login screen again.  I just see the screen flashing between the console and a blank screen.  The only way to logout is to reboot which is pretty annoying.

Has anyone run in to this issue or have an idea where to look?

Thanks,

Jim

Re: X keeps restarting after logout

What is in the journal? LightDM's log?

If you remove LightDM, does the problem disappear?

It looks like my Xserver won't start back up without a reboot.  Here is the pastebin of the X log.
It seems like X completely restarts and cannot reinitialize the NVidia driver.

[   265.046] (==) Using config file: "/etc/X11/xorg.conf"
[   265.046] (==) Using config directory: "/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d"
[   265.046] (==) Using system config directory "/usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d"

Start by moving your custom config bits (at least /etc/X11/xorg.conf) away.
The check the output of "dmesg | grep -i nvrm" and ensure you're not running a framebuffer console.
