Just found this viewer on my search to replace shotwell and it is almost exactly what I want. Looks great and works great, good work!
Only thing I am missing is an easy way to publish selected images like Shotwell does. Shotwell can publish to sites like Flickr and Facebook which is very convenient. Any chance that phototonic would support those api's (and while we're at it maybe 500px)?

mke21, basically I think you can do anything by writing a script and add it to the "open with".

Is there a way to select more than one photo in the gui and rename several photos at once? all with the same name but with numbers after like

in Gthumb you:
select a bunch then F2 or rclick>rename
and put new name on the front of the ####e that it gives you like
germanyholiday####e
