Chroot from host

I am installing arch on a mac pro 1,1 from ubuntu host and am stuck at at "Selecting a mirror and downloading basic tools" of the 'Install from existing Linux' instructions. The next step is to select a mirror but without any editor I am unsure how to edit the mirrorlist.

What do you mean "without any editor"?

Re: Chroot from host

If you are using the barebones bootstrap chroot, just use an editor from the host, outside of the chroot.

I should have thought of this... I am now having an issue however as pacman will is unable to resolve any hosts when I try to refresh the package list.

Re: Chroot from host

Have you forgotten to copy /etc/resolv.conf into the chroot?

Note that cat/echo, sed, grep, etc. are also perfectly good "text editors" for really simple things like this. big_smile
