I run Plasma on my Arch and after NVIDIA update I can't get effects to work again.
From Desktop Effects panel they are still checked but just doesn't affect my session.
I have no more woobly windows, terminal's transparency and so on.
I tried to uninstall NVIDIA driver and remove xorg.conf, then I installed the driver again and I created a new xorg.conf with nvidia-xconfig but it was worth nothing.
Any idea?

update your whole system, nvidia is at nvidia 375.26-6 and if you updated the kernel without updating nvidia that's what happens. Make sure to check and use up to date mirrors

In the first post I forgot to mention that I had this issue after a major system update with pacman -Syu
I'm still running NVIDIA 375.26-2 and if I run pacman -Syu I don't get updates available.
Maybe I have to change mirrors?
Thanks for the reply.

You should try that yes, that nvidia module is definitely out of date.

I was able to install NVIDIA 375.26.6 but the outcome remains the same. For this reason I update the topic's title.
By the way nvidia-utils is still 375.26.2.
I can't really figure out what is wrong.
I've even tried to switch to nvidia-dkms but nothing changed.
I have no more effects, transparency and my system suffers lag.

I solved my problem and the solution was quite embarrassing.
I don't know why, but some update prevented the compositor to start up, so I just re-enabled it and now it works.
