Hi
today I've done a new clean installation on my laptop, all is ok except the size of desktop icons
I don't remember how to decrease them, from "File" > "Preferences" now it is not possible, I can decrease only the nautilus' icons but not the desktop icons
I've looked in gnome-tweak-tools and dconf-editor but nothing, Many months ago I did it on my pc but now on gnome 3.22.2 I can't
I'm looking in some forums but the solutions are not updated
have you any news about it?
thanks
bye

While I assume it should be possible with a gconf property as well, I do not know which one that is so instead here is the click path in Nautilus:
1. Change the display mode from List view to Icon view (if it's not on Icon view already).
2. Click on the menu(?) button (the button with 3 horizontal lines, next to the view toggle button) and press the [-] button to decrease the Icon size.
3. See your desktop icons shrink as well.
4. Change Nautilus back to List view if you want.

That seems a strange way to increase/decrease desktop icon size just right click on the icon and click on resize icon

Ctrl + Mouse Scroll wheel on the desktop or in file manager. one of those did it for me.

same here... but this solved the problem for me:
gsettings set org.gnome.nautilus.icon-view default-zoom-level 'small'
and gconf-editor doesn't work anymore, if you want a graphical editor for gsettings, install dconf-editor
yep, i also was lost with the emptiness of values inside of Gconf editor...

The size of the icons of Nautilus (3.22) and the Desktop are the same so open Nautilus on Desktop and change the size of the icons by pressing Ctrl+Scroll mouse wheel (open Nautilus on Desktop wilth all the rest windows minimized).

Open Nautilus (not maximized) on Desktop with all the rest windows minimized and then press CTRL+Scroll mouse wheel. That does the trick.
