https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/52740: why am I wrong?

Doug Newgard (Scimmia) closed https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/52740. As far as I can see, https://git.archlinux.org/svntogit/pack … ckages/kbd record the URL with a .gz suffix.
How to contact Doug Newgard (Scimmia) to ask for explanation, or can you explain why the bug report was closed on the ground that there is no bug?
I think the point is that upstream changed the URL suffix to .xz. Since PKGBUILD is not updated,
    makepkg -Ldo
fail to fetch the source.

Re: https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/52740: why am I wrong?

As far as I can see both gz and xz versions should be available?

Edit: I just tried downloading the PKGBUILD of the kbd package and it seems to download the .gz and .sign files just fine although it ultimately leads to the following:

==> ERROR: fix-euro2.patch was not found in the build directory and is not a URL.

Edit2: Which of course is expected since I didn't download the .patch file included in the package.

Re: https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/52740: why am I wrong?

I don't have my arch handy at this time. I pointed a web browser to ftp://ftp.kernel.org/pub/linux/utils/kbd/ and indeed there is the source with a .gz suffix as well. I'll try to understand why makepkg failed to get it when I'll get to my arch machine.
Thank you.
