Using groff for making documents in language other than English

Hello everyone,
I would like your help in configuring "groff" so that it would be possible to create postscript document in language other than English. As far as I understand the real issue here is with Type1 font, because it basically does not support any other languages than English. I know that on Arch URW+ Postscript core35 fonts (gsfonts) are available and I even managed to bind some of those fonts with "lout" (installing them separately and making several workarounds). But is it possible to natively create .ps document with groff in Eastern Europe language?
Best regards,
