If you (laptop users) have any time to spare, it would be great to have a few more laptops represented in the Wiki:

Even just listing the necessary modules (or extra hoops you had to jump through) could prove really useful to newcomers.

I wrote one about my laptop 4 months ago, and it has had 2000 viewings (!), so apparently there is plenty of interest out there.

I have an Compaq v2000; Arch work after install, but i'm noob for now... (i don't know if everything works fine...)  :oops:  :oops:

Never got it working the way I need it to on my t42.  The most major issue was pcmcia didn't work.  I posted a few times about it, but never made much progress.  Saw a similar issue reported as a bug by Eugenia of OSNews fame, but it seemed to be unresolved as well.

Running great on my Compaq m300

I have an M300 as well Although I might be ebaying it off in the near future,  but yeah, Arch worked great on it.

It *should* work good on a bunk thinkpad I have too - problem is the harddrive decides it's time to fail ever so often, so I've been unable to complete a full install.
I wonder how hard it is to find a harddrive for an ancient thinkpad?

hey, works also great on my new laptop, an asus a8jc-h001h. only thing, there is no package for the r1000 (realtek gigabit lan) drivers. everythings works, except the cardreader and camera.

I wonder how hard it is to find a harddrive for an ancient thinkpad?

I have a new harddrive for my very ancient Dell Latitude. Just *any* 2,5" HD would do. But I wonder how hard it is to find a new keyboard for it.

Runs not-so-great on a zepto znote 6214w, mainly because cpufreq doesn't work.

Runs nearly very well on a dell latitude d400:

Both stock and beyond kernel gives a high cpu load on the laptop, I have to compile my own kernel.

I've installed arch on, well, 8 different laptops. No big troubles on any of them. If it can run Linux, it can run Arch.
My current favourite is an Asus W5A, and everything except the built in webcamera works. We have a project for making a driver for that one though
(By the way, every web with respect for itself has an ancient thread..)

I am using the regular Arch install on a AMD Turion 64.
Tried the 64 bit Arch, but It didn't recognize my chip.  Wouldn't boot from CD.
The 686 version still runs faster than any other i386 Linux I've tried on this laptop.
BTW.  I haven't found any 64 bit distibution that will install on this pc.
Even Wireless works with Ndiswrapper.

PS...  I've used Arch on an Hp 7100 also with no problems.  Arch ran as fast as Windows 98 on this laptop without the reliability problems.  Etc...    This was when I first found Arch about two or three years ago.   This pc was an old pentium II, but Arch was still faster than any other disto I tried.

I'm not a guru or and expert, but Arch is the most stable cutting edge distro around, Including laptops.  All you need is a little patience and a willingness to learn.  These forums have been a great help.

Good to see its working well on acer laps as I was going to try.

Also works as a charm on Elitesoft G553. Dont even notice it has only 256 megs of RAM.

Arch worked "out of the box" on my Dell Inspiron 1150.

Couldn't have wished for anything better.
