Do you need it with OB ?

Are you running it via Gnome?

I did not think OB would work with Xgl lol

Neither did I, but I belive someone said in a thread not long ago that he was running XGL with xfwm and it gave it hardware acceleration...

It has nothing to with hardware. Xgl needs compiz to have any good performance. With compiz I get around 6400 fps and without I get around 2400 fps.

Ohh, and you need 'xcompmgr' to get the transparent effect.

For some reason 'glxcompmgr' act as a WM, or so does the WM's think so. I always get the error that another wm is running.
