how to remove files installed up to crash point (gcc-gcj)

Before realizing I only needed pdftk-bin, I was working to install pdftk but had to first install dependencies gcc-gcj and gcc-gcj-ecj.

gcc-gcj-ecj installed fine but the install of gcc-gcj was taking a long time (~10 mins) before it stalled - I left it for about 10 more mins and nothing happened - then I hit 'ctl-c' to abort the process. So the package install didn't complete.

What I'm wondering is how I can reverse the changes made to my computer that occurred during the 10 mins while the install was progressing when I can't use pacman to uninstall the complete package?

Thanks Allan.

What was it doing for those first 10 minutes then? Weren't any changes made to my system?

If there were changes, do those changes get reversed if the complete install fails?

It was compiling the code in a temporary directory, the packages don't get created/installed until the compilation is finished.

No, it didn't "fix" anything. It just shifted the brokeness one space to the right. - jasonwryan
