Look at this screenshot of MPlayer:
There's no option for output via OpenGL. The same is the case with VLC - set it to use GL output, and it will crash, saying it was unable to open the display or somesuch. Can someone tell me what, exactly, is wrong with my system?

you will have to build the package yourself w/ abs

The current PKGBUILD already seems to have --enable-gl though...

All the media players have GL output enabled at compile time if possible, it just doesn't work for any of them.

xv = on
gl = on
or something, which is a setting in the xorg.conf under nvidia or ati header and when you have the one enabled the other output doesn't work.
this has been for a long time, but maybe it's not so anymore. I'm sorry i can't remember the specifics but why should i? knowing the xorg.conf from my memory is not one of my pasttimes

It shouldn't be a problem... If I am able to use OpenGL, and MPlayer and other media players are compiled with GL support, then they should be able to use OpenGL.
