Thinkpad Yoga: Making the writing working [.Xauthrotiy file not create

Hi,

I have a ThinkPad Yoga from 2014. I now installed Arch with Gnom and GDM: [Might change hits, just playing around.] The Pen actually works. I guess one could make it work even better but it's okay for me how it works out of the box. But there's one problem: I want my hand to no interfere while it is laying on the screen. I've read, that the following script (which disables the touchscreen if the pen is near the screen) works fine for that: www.github.com/pschmitt/yoga-dev-toggle

So, I tried it when I didnt had installed gdm. I logged into arch with root and run startx to get into Gnome. I got the following problem: The script couldnt find the .Xauthrotiy at /home/*/. Which makes sense, since my root's home dir is at /root. So I changed the script so it looks for in ~ instead that it looks in /home/*.

Anyway, the script run. It didn't work well to be honest, but it run. I then created a test user and instaleld gdm and enabled the gdm.service. Now I'm logged in with user test. Downlaoded the script into it's home dir and tried to run it, getting:

/home/test/.Xauthority file or dir not found
unable to find device SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad [Guess that's not related to the problem itself]

So I have two questions:

1. How do you guys make that your hand doesn't interfere with the writing? What script do you use?
2. Why is there no .Xauthority file for my test user?

Thanks smile

Did you create the home dir for the test user?

yes I did, I used the proper flag when creating the user, so it created the home dir.

@knownbad how did you come up with wayland? Why should I use Wayland?

Switched to Enlighenment as a desktop environment - just feels best of all of it.

Edit: It works fine with xournal on Enlightement with xf86 drivers like here: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Le … d_Yoga_260

Fine means: If I start writing and then put the hand down it works. which isn't great but way better than before. Will try to make it work better. smile
