Hello All,
I have a question regarding switching between internal and external monitors for a laptop running ArchLinux. I seemingly cannot proceed past the boot selector screen without the external monitor attached ( the laptop monitor turns black immediately before the login prompt appears ). I have tried with multiple external monitors attached, and only the external monitor that I initially attached to the laptop displays video output. I have entered BIOS, and set the default monitor as internal, however, the problem persists. Does ArchLinux store any persistent settings for the display output, or could this possibly be a firmware issue? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your time,
Nils

What laptop?
Have you changed the Xorg.conf?
Where are virtual ttys shown? Try switching to one by pressing Ctrl-Alt+FN1-7.
Post your Xorg log.
Some Destop environments might save configrations, but this should normally only happen after you logged in.

What laptop?
- Lenovo Thinkpad T60.
Have you changed the Xorg.conf?
- Not that I am aware of; there are no files in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/, nor /etc/X11/xorg.conf or /etc/xorg.conf files.
Where are virtual ttys shown? Try switching to one by pressing Ctrl-Alt+FN1-7.
- The ttys are shown in the external monitor only ( tty1 through tty6 ).
Post your Xorg log.
- I grepped the /var/log/Xorg.0.log file for lines describing errors; this is the result:

Might creating an xorg.conf skeleton file ( per the Xorg article in ArchWiki ) help?
