Hi everyone,
I have a simple issue but I don't seem to find what I want. I use the Mate desktop environment on Arch with LightDM as a display manager. I wanted to use light-locker to lock my screen instead of the ugly mate-xscreensaver installed by default to keep the look of lightdm when logging. So I installed light-locker and removed mate-xscreensaver. The lock on suspend works perfectly and when I return I have the lightdm interface for unlocking my session.
However, when using the Ctrl+Alt+L shortcut to lock the screen, I have an error message displaying :
Unable to execute command: xscreensaver-command -lock
Verify that this command is valid.
So I went to the mate control panel to change the action by default but it's not possible from there. There only is the choice of changing the shortcut, at the line "Lock screen : Ctrl+Alt+L".
I found that this panel is controlled by the mate-keyboard-properties command, and in searching I found the file associated with it, but the command invoked on the keybinding isn't written there.
Content of the file /usr/share/mate-control-center/keybindings/01-desktop-key.xml :
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<KeyListEntries schema="org.mate.SettingsDaemon.plugins.media-keys" package="mate-settings-daemon" name="Desktop"><KeyListEntry name="help" description="Launch help browser"/>
<KeyListEntry name="calculator" description="Launch calculator"/>
<KeyListEntry name="email" description="Launch email client"/>
<KeyListEntry name="www" description="Launch web browser"/>
<KeyListEntry name="logout" description="Log out"/>
<KeyListEntry name="power" description="Shut down"/>
<KeyListEntry name="screensaver" description="Lock screen"/>
<KeyListEntry name="home" description="Home folder"/>
<KeyListEntry name="search" description="Search"/>
</KeyListEntries>
So my question is : where can I change the command invoked by the screensaver shortcut ? Is it in some gtk related configuration file ? I explored the gtk folders under /etc and /usr/share without success. I also tried to use the dconf-editor but didn't find anything this specific.
Thanks for your time.

a) disable that shortcut, add a new one to execute your command (iff mate supports arbitrary command execution on shortcuts)
b) add a shell script to a local $PATH, name it "xscreensaver-command", have it check
if [ "$1" = "-lock" ]; then your_command; fiOffline
Yeah I did the a) to quickfix the problem. Thanks for the b) though, I didn't thought to do it. However if someone passing by knows where to directly change that command, I still wish to know !
Thanks.
