Hi,

I just purchased a cheap lappy off ebay ....

Its 550mhz 128mb ram ... 10gb Hd

Not sure if it will run Arch ....  wondered if its classed as PIII ?

np if not I will load either Ubuntu or DSL

Would rather use Arch lol

Well there is a PIII 550MHz CPU, but yours may or may not be one. It'll certainly be an i686 though.

Re: Err old lappy alert ...

The only problem I have with it now is that you have to have it plugged into the wall all the time, battery is dead

everthing else is ok ...

may stick it back on ebay & wait for something a little better ;-)

but I have fun getting linux running on it ... ;-)

Just like mine, Mr Green - except my battery isn't dead, the machine just keeps cutting out if I try to run on battery. And this is my main Arch setup!

Re: Err old lappy alert ...

rofl ....

even on my new lappy if you run drives (dvd music etc...) battery does not last long

looked at price of new battery for old one its as much as what I paid for it .

pays to check out spares & stuff first before parting with yer money ;-)

emmm I always thought you could not upgrade lappys but managed to put a bigger drive & more memory no real problem ... (crucial are waay cool!)

no I'm off to buy a mac book pro lol
