I installed Arch Linux onto my laptop laptop last night and installed the GNOME desktop enviroment which means the GNOME software center was also isntalled. There's one issue tho'. GNOME software will not start at all. If the GUI icon is clicked the cursor just spins for a second then nothing but if I issue the command "sudo gnome-software" I get:
No protocol specified
Unable to init server: Could not connect: Connection refused
(gnome-software:2266): Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display: :0
If I do not appened sudo the command just hangs in the terminal and it prints "Timeout was reached".
Any help? Thank you in advanced.

Do not use sudo for GUI programs: use gsku.

How would I fix it for the GUI icon?

First identify the problem. Does it work with gksu?
Your initial post doesn't include enough information to have any idea what the problem is. If the software center runs with gksu, then the problem is just with the icon - in which case we'd need to know what icon you are talking about. If it doesn't run with gksu then it would support your initial claims that the software center will not run at all which would suggest there is a problem with that package itself.

I still get this error:

Are you running gnome on xorg or wayland?

1) Never use sudo for graphical applications, you should use gksudo instead.
2) Are you running the default Wayland session? This is known to have issues, try the Gnome on Xorg session instead.

Gksu doesn't seem to help with my issue. I enter my password but nothing actually happens.
Running it with Xorg seems to fix it. Can they wayland issue be fixed?
