Hi.
Since an update 2 days ago I am not able to login to gnome. I only get thrown back to the login screen.
If I choose gnome classic it works fine. And I can do
$ gnome-shell --mode=user -r &
and switch during the session in gnome classic to gnome.
Maybe anyone has some suggestions?
Thank you in advance!
Cheers.

I'm having the same problem. Your temporary fix in switching to gnome-shell works as well.

This is in my journalctl:

Switching to Xorg at the login fixes it. Must be a wayland problem?

Something seems to be wrong with the latest build of gdm/libgdm 3.22.2-1
Rollback to 3.22.1-1 using https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/do … g_packages
cd /var/cache/pacman/pkg
pacman -U gdm-3.22.1-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz libgdm-3.22.1-1.x86_64.pkg.tar.xz
Your packages might be different if you're on 32 bit, so you can see what you have by doing:
ls /var/cache/pacman/pkg | grep -i gdm
This doesn't *fix* the problem with the latest gdm, but at least it gets you logging back in like normal while the maintainers figure it out
Also, TIL a lot about the pacman cache, such as mine was taking up 11GB of space on my SSD O_O
You can clean up your cache to have just the 3 most recent packages by doing:
paccache -r

What's the output of "glxinfo" in gnome on xorg?

Downgrading gdm didn't seem to make a difference for me. I still had to use Xorg. I'll try to troubleshoot later.
My pacman cache was taking up 25 GB haha. So thanks for that.

Thank you! got my login back after downgrading gdm and libgdm! not fun to lose your login 15 minutes before a meeting though.
