Macbook9,1 early 2016 Blank screen booting Arch

I'm trying to install Arch on a new Macbook. This isn't a pro. It's one of the new ones with just a USB-c port.

I can boot the media OK, I get to the EFI menu and select Arch install but then I just get a black screen. I've tried every other distro that I use and have the same issue with all of them. Arch, openSUSE, System Rescue CD, Ubuntu.

Where would I start trying to figure this out?

Thanks,

Jeremy

Have you tried disabling modesetting?

Re: Macbook9,1 early 2016 Blank screen booting Arch

Just a note to you:

Unless I am mistaken and the drivers are working now, you will have to use an external keyboard and mouse with that machine. The keyboard on the MacBook will work while booting, but once "in" the booted environment, the keyboard and mouse will no longer work. You have to have an external keyboard and mouse. I have the same issue with the "new" MacBook" as well. There is a thread somewhere on the forums that link to a kernel bug (it's not really a bug, it's just the new stuff to support it hasn't been added).

I had the same problem but managed to boot with acpi=off. As mrunion mentioned, keyboard does not work, I had to plug in an external keyboard.
