Hi, I have a boot problem that is not vital, but time-consuming and annoying.
Every time I boot my machine, I need to wait 90 seconds for sys-subsystem-net-devices-multi-user.device to time out. The machine connects to my wifi, then it searches for ethernet, I guess. I haven't configured ethernet, I said I'll be fine without it.
Things I have tried (homework):
1. Searched on Google
Timeout during boot @ Reddit
then tried:
$ systemctl show -p WantedBy,RequiredBy sys-subsystem-net-devices-multi-user.device
RequiredBy=wpa_supplicant@multi-user.service
WantedBy=Then disabled the service and another one:
$ sudo systemctl disable wpa_supplicant@multi-user.service
systemctl disable netctl-auto@NetworkManager.serviceStill not working.
2. Had a look at this topic
but it's not the same as mine. I don't seem to have that config file (privoxy.service).
Tried searching for the service that causes this by:
sudo grep -ir eth0 /etc/systemd/*
sudo grep -ir enp7s0 /etc/systemd/*
sudo grep -ir eth0 /etc/netctl/*
sudo grep -ir enp7s0 /etc/netctl/*But found nothing (except some example files in netclt directory) ![]()
3. I didn't find a solution on the Netctl page on Arch Wiki.
Could anyone please help me find out why is this happening?
Additional info:
$ sudo journalctl -b | grep sys-subsystem-net-devices-multi-user.device
Mar 11 21:50:41 Lemongrass-pc systemd[1]: sys-subsystem-net-devices-multi-user.device: Job sys-subsystem-net-devices-multi-user.device/start timed out.
Mar 11 21:50:41 Lemongrass-pc systemd[1]: Timed out waiting for device sys-subsystem-net-devices-multi-user.device.
Mar 11 21:50:41 Lemongrass-pc systemd[1]: sys-subsystem-net-devices-multi-user.device: Job sys-subsystem-net-devices-multi-user.device/start failed with result 'timeout'.ip link says enp7s0 is down.
I have wpa_supplicant, dialog and iw installed. Formerly wifi-radar too, but I removed that.

What is the output of:
systemctl list-unit-files --state enabledOffline
Hi jasonwryan, thank you again for showing kindness ![]()
$ systemctl list-unit-files --state enabled
UNIT FILE STATE
autovt@.service enabled
dbus-fi.w1.wpa_supplicant1.service enabled
getty@.service enabled
netctl@wlp6s0\x2dViharos.service enabled
ufw.service enabled
wpa_supplicant.service enabled
wpa_supplicant@.service enabled
remote-fs.target enabled
8 unit files listed.Offline
Disable all of the network services and then just enable the one you want to use (presumably netctl).

Thank you really much, this worked! ![]()

For me it was a file here
ls /etc/systemd/system/multi-user.target.wants/ | grep dhcp
dhcpcd@enp6s0.service
So
sudo systemctl disable dhcpcd@enp6s0.service
helped
