[Solved]cant generate mkinitcpio images after update

Hi, so i recently updated arch and on the initial install mkinitcpio gave the error /lib/modules/4.9.11-1-ARCH is not a valid kernal module directory, attempting to generate these images with

mkinitcpio -p linux

after the installation gives the same error, and when i browse that directory there is no 4.9.11-1-ARCH it has of course been replaced by the updated module version 4.10.1-1-ARCH, i was wondering if there was any reason why this was happening i assume the update isnt being detected? is there some way to make it detect or manual enter the new module folder name?
Thanks!

Please paste the output of `pacman -Q linux && uname -r`.

re-installed the linux package with

pacman -Sy linux
