[SOLVED] sound problem after upgrade to linux-4.10.1-1-x86_64

After upgrade to linux-4.10.1-1-x86_64 this morning and rebooting my intel NUC sound started loud ticking about once per second. espeak sort of works, but is very distorted.

I reverted to linux-4.9.11-1-x86_64 and the problem disappeared. I use alsa for sound (see below). I looked in the journalctl output, but could not see anything obvious. I am using a KVM (ATEN) switch so the speakers are not connected directly.

Anything I can do to try and ameliorate or dig deeper? All my other packages are up to date.

Re: [SOLVED] sound problem after upgrade to linux-4.10.1-1-x86_64

I find that rebooting after installation of linux-4.10.1-1-x86_64 was the cause of the problem. If I shutdown and then boot the sound works OK. I suppose the reboot allows some bad state to persist. rebooting from 4.10 doesn't cause an issue.
