[SOLVED] No sound after kernel update (4.9.11-1 -> 4.10.1-1)

Hello there!

Every time when I've update the system, I'll check the Arch Linux's news page to information about the next updates or if I need to take any precautions (mainly due to kernel updates). Today I've updated the system, both nvidia and Linux kernel upgraded (the pacman log bellow show more information). When I reboot the system the message "Error parsing PCC subspaces from PCCT" was the first to appear, I thinked this was really weird, so the system start normally, but the sound card was muted. I've unmuted and raised the volume, but no sound. I've downgraded both linux kernel and nvidia packages (the new nvidia package needs linux => 4.10), but still no sound.

When I read the "dmesg" output, it says that volume was not mounted properly. What happened? What should I do?

EDIT: Below, some information about the machine; pacman, dmesg and lspci outputs. If more information is needed, I'll update the post:
* Notebook Asus X555L
* Systemd-boot as bootloader
* Dual-boot with Windows 10

Re: [SOLVED] No sound after kernel update (4.9.11-1 -> 4.10.1-1)

When I read the "dmesg" output, it says that volume was not mounted properly.

"UNmounted" and that "volume" is a disk (partition, your boot partition, likely) - it has nothing to do with sound.

The sound userspace is hypercomplex and usually the reason for failures, so the first thing you need to specify is "how do you try to produce sound?"
The next thing is "do you use pulseaudio?"

In doubt, try "mplayer -v file.mp3" and share the output.

Ops! Sorry for the mistake! I've readed fast because I was worried. Yes, I use PulseAudio, I installed recently because Firefox 52 needs PulseAudio to play sounds, and I use ALSA as well. Back then, none problem found.

Below, the output of the command that you said:

Re: [SOLVED] No sound after kernel update (4.9.11-1 -> 4.10.1-1)

After installing the pulseaudio-alsa package, following the precaution pointed by the wiki (to avoid conflict between /etc/asound.conf and .asoundrc), the sound was back! However, the "Error parsing PCC subspaces from PCCT" still appears in the boot. It's recommended that I open a new topic for this issue?

Thanks to all for the help!

Below the information required, if you have some information or hint about this, feel to free to tell me! :]
/etc/asound.conf

# Use PulseAudio by default

  fallback "sysdefault"
  hint {

    description "Default ALSA Output (currently PulseAudio Sound Server)"
  }
}

ctl.!default {

}

# vim:set ft=alsaconf:

sudo fuser -v /dev/snd/*

oh,I have the same problem,"Error parsing PCC subspaces from PCCT",
but it seems to have no effect.

Re: [SOLVED] No sound after kernel update (4.9.11-1 -> 4.10.1-1)

"Error parsing PCC subspaces from PCCT"

Likely ACPI related (or windows fast boot from a windows installation) - you might have troubles to STR/resume from S3 or similar - or no notable problems at all.

Right! As I said before, the problem related with sound was solved, but, the "Error parsing PCC subspaces from PCCT" problem still to appears. I'm doubt if I'll update the topic with this problem or just mark as solved because the sound problem was solved...

I saw about the Windows Fast Boot, even disable it, the "Error parsing PCC subspaces from PCCT" problem still occurs. When I've downgraded to 4.9.11-1 kernel, this error does not appears.

Re: [SOLVED] No sound after kernel update (4.9.11-1 -> 4.10.1-1)

"One problem, one thread."

As pointed outm the PCC parsing is probably not even a problem, but just an information that your BIOS has a "problematic" ACPI implementation.
As long as you don't encounter actual problems, you may ignore it.
