Specific sourceforge mirrors in PKGBUILDs

WillySilly sent me a message in AUR not long ago about wesnoth-dev, saying not to use specific sourceforge mirrors... The problem is that if I don't, the PKGBUILD won't work. I tried asking in AUR and PM-ing WillySilly, but I haven't gotten any answer.

This is the source accessed from the PKGBUILD (I changed $pkg* variables to their values in the links):
http://heanet.dl.sourceforge.net/source … 1.4.tar.gz

If I change it to this, it doesn't work - after testing with wget I found out that it's downloading a HTML page with the sourceforge mirrors instead...
http://dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/w … 1.4.tar.gz

I also tried this one, but still just downloads a mirrorlist:
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/wesn … .4.tar.gz/

So do anyone have a suggestion how not to use specific sourceforge mirror?

Re: Specific sourceforge mirrors in PKGBUILDs

It's http://dl.sourceforge.net/projectname/filename

The problem I have with dl.sourceforge.net is that it always redirects me to a mirror that is down, so I change it to heanet if the dl.sf.net link doesn't start downloading files within 10 seconds.

http://dl.sourceforge.net/wesnoth/wesnoth_1.1.4.tar.gz still downloads just a HTML file with mirrors?

http://dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/w … 1.4.tar.gz works for me:

The fakeroot stuff at the end is beacause I pressed ^C to stop the download.

Could be, you're redirected to a broken mirror that doesn't have the file, so that redirects you to a page which allows you to choose a mirror.

Sourceforge uses wonderful system, doesn't it? tongue

Yeah, makes sense now... I guess I have to use SF mainpage anyway then, I'll try the /etc/hosts trick mentioned in one of Dusty's links.

EDIT: with the hosts trick everything works for me too now, I'll upload the PKGBUILD with link to dl.sourceforge.net now.

So you're bumping 7 and 8 year old threads with a link to your 9 month old thread with a rejected idea? What did you hope to accomplish?

While the linked discussion appears relevant, this thread is from 2006 and thus no longer relevant itself.
