Yes, thats all I can say about my issue
Using LxQt which should run fine with Compiz.
When I switch to Compiz WM by running "compiz --replace", all open windows are frozen.
I can only move the mouse cursor but I cannot click anything, no dragging/resizing of windows or any other stuff.
Just move the cursor.
There are topics back from 2011 which describe exactly the same issue.
According to this threads, its an issue related to Nvidia graphics.
However, I'm using ATI (HD5XXX) running the open source "radeon" driver.
My card is not supported by the newer "atigpu" driver.
I also cannot find hints of people with this issue using ATI.
Not sure how to proceed.
I checked ~/.xsession-errors but no hints.
Any suggestion on this issue? Any other logs I can check?

You might need to use
compiz --replace ccp
if you're using the Compiz 0.8 packages. When ccp (compiz configuration plugin) isn't autoloaded you end up with compiz core only but it's plugins separate from compiz core that provide stuff such as moving and resizing windows. The Compiz 0.9 pkgbuilds work around this by specifying that ccp is a plugin that needs to be autoloaded.

I installed compiz from AUR, which is, according to https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/compiz/ is a 0.9.x.x version.
But I will check if this plugin is activated when I'm at home, thank you.
I also checked /var/log/Xorg.0.log, but no issues logged.

It is I'm the maintainer. You must have a different issue. Did you see this in the upstream Compiz wiki?

Not sure if this affects me because I'm using the "radeon" driver.
However, I will double-check when I'm at home.
Thanks for your hint!

Nope, still not working.
Option "XAANoOffscreenPixmaps" "true" does not the trick.
only log file with some kind of issue seems to be .xsession-errors:
Can't open RFKILL control device: No such file or directory
(pamac-tray:3490): Gdk-CRITICAL **: gdk_window_thaw_toplevel_updates: assertion 'window->update_and_descendants_freeze_count > 0' failed
Not sure if this is related to my issue. Still googling...
