Putting this in the Newbie corner as I am not sure which category it should be under.
When the linux package was updated to 4.9 this caused a breakage with the nvidida-304xx package https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/52734.
linux-lts has now been updated to 4.9 as well but the patch https://git.archlinux.org/svntogit/pack … idia-304xx has not been applied to nvidia-304xx-lts.
A similar issue also occurred with nvidia-340xx-lts https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/53166 and I did comment that both nvidia-340xx-lts and nvidia-304xx-lts appear to need patching https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/53166#comment155899
Now this should cause the same issue as 52734 but I do not have relevant hardware to test it so should I report this as a bug or wait and see if someone with hardware encounters the issue?

If you patch nvidia-304xx-lts with https://git.archlinux.org/svntogit/pack … idia-304xx does that allow the nvidia kernel module to load properly?

Yes, this way nvidia gets loaded. But I still have to downgrade libglvnd for compositing to work.
