HDMI not detected

I can't figure out how to make linux detect my HDMI monitor. It works really well on Windows 10 .
I have HP pavilion laptop with i7 6700HQ , GTX 960M

xrandr - HDMI disconnected.

I tried with xrandr ,xorg  configs, nvidia drivers, bumblebee. NO SUCCES.

I could make him force outputting on HDMI even it was disconnected from xrandr ( cable was plugged in )  with Xorg config , but couldn't make him refresh ( opening apps not seen , just the background and laptop monitor was black ).

udevadm monitor  seems not seeing it ( no output when plug and unplug )

Re: HDMI not detected

Does it make any difference if the monitor is powered on and connected before you turn on your laptop?

No, it didn't "fix" anything. It just shifted the brokeness one space to the right. - jasonwryan

Re: HDMI not detected

No, I tried to connect before, after turning on the laptop. Nothing.

Re: HDMI not detected

Is this issue with some particular HDMI device or your archbox is not able to connect any HDMI.
I am having similar issue with LCD projector in my college. I am not able to connect through HDMI but I can connect to the same projector with VGA port (both in console and in x). HDMI output is simply not detected by xrandr (and console too). I can connect to other HDMI devices (tested with my TV) just fine.
There is probably issue with linux kernel as some newer HDMI protocols are not supported.

Re: HDMI not detected

I tried multiple distribution, not only Arch. I tried Ubuntu, Elementary Os ( also Ubuntu ), Deep In  and Deep In Manjaro( arch) no SUCCES. Should I consider this an issue with kernel ?

Note that my friend has an I7 6700HQ, gtx 950m laptop bought in same period of time and he is able to connect to external monitor.

Re: HDMI not detected

I have the same issue. HDMI port not connected at all. I tried many different monitors not none worked. It used to work with no problem, so I guess something is wrong with the new updates.
I'm using Lenovo G50.

uname -a

Linux my-computer 4.10.8-1-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Fri Mar 31 16:50:19 CEST 2017 x86_64 GNU/Linux

lspci -v

00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation HD Graphics 5500 (rev 09) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller])
