I am trying to install monodevelop-beta package but it keeps failing because the gnome-sharp package doesn't exist. It used to exist but doesn't anymore. Has the package been renamed to something else.

Looks like it stopped being in the repositories back in 2014. Doesn't look like it ever made it to the AUR.
I would ask the "maintainer" of the monodevelop-beta package where they are getting their gnome-sharp package from.
EDIT: My mistake, it was in the official repositories since January, it simply never got updated since 2014.

EDIT2: Here are the build files if you want to update the PKGBUILD and maintain it on the AUR.
EDIT3: I said 2014, but apparently the last version of gnome-sharp shipped in 2010.

Looks like it isn't going to be quite that simple.
I'm working on gnome-sharp as a dependency of glippy, by the way.
EDIT: Uploaded, but not yet building (still unclear if changes need to be made to gnome-sharp to work with the new gtk-sharp or if changes will be made to gtk-sharp that allow this package to build as-is or if both packages will need changes).
EDIT again: Fixed!
