tpm_crb: probe of MSFT0101:00 failed with error -16

Hi,

I keep getting this message at boot:

tpm_crb MSFT0101:00: can't request region for resource [mem 0xfed40040-0xfed4103f]
tpm_crb: probe of MSFT0101:00 failed with error -16

I am runing on intel skylake with 8gb of corsair memory.

How do I fix this and is this a critical issue?

I met the similar problem:

    [    9.389181] tpm_crb MSFT0101:00: can't request region for resource [mem 0xfed40080-0xfed40fff]
    [    9.389223] tpm_crb: probe of MSFT0101:00 failed with error -16

I guess this is the related bug report: https://bugs.launchpad.net/intel/+bug/1596469.
However seems it is not fixed or merged by the kernel yet. If you are not using tpm (Trusted Platform Module), I do not think it is a big problem.

It's a driver for this kind of thing failing to initialize. If all this blabber about platform integrity and remote attestation means nothing to you, you probably don't need it.

I suppose this driver is a module so it can be blacklisted to avoid this error and reduce boot time by half millisecond or so.

Or disable the tpm chip in the bios/fw setup. I do that with my laptop to have similar dmesg spam.
