I had problems with a missing lib32-libegl and lib32-libglvnd / lib32-catalyst-libgl conflict notices with some package dependencies since the mesa integration into the catalyst repo. Just as an fyi to other users in the same boat, reinstalling lib32-catalyst-libgl fixes this.

I cannot get HW acceleration to work on my AMD A10-7850K and could really use some help
My setup, I have an R9 280X connected via DVI-d to one monitor, this works perfectly, running amdgpu like a champ, Gnome-Wayland picks it up fine also.
my kaveri A10-7850K connected up to a second monitor again via DVI. Whilst it has display it refuses to provide HW acceleration. Chromium is unusable unless I turn off the HW acceleration option, VLC is a no-go. Wayland won't even look at it
Windows, works fine as expected. Ubuntu from a live stick runs fine.
I've tried this on live cds for manjaro, antergos, tumbleweed (opensuse), void and the issue persists across flavours.
I am using the xf86 drivers. My grub.cfg is fresh and new without any modesetting flags enabled
What I've tried so far, have blacklisted radeon and enabled early KMS for amdgpu with no xorg.conf. Then with an xorg then with an 10-radeon.conf in xinit.d
I have tried the other way around, blacklisted amdgpu etc.
I tried a clean install with the linux-cik kernel from aur
Nothing is working and it's really bugging me now (I've been at this for about 3 weeks now)
I'm at work right now but will post xorg logs / confs etc when I'm home but figured someone else may have come across this before and have a fix that my google-fu has failed to find?

I've tried Catalyst for my Radeon HD 4000 series (rv710/730), and replace my radeon 7k (rv100); doesn't work for either. I've tried to dowload a proper driver from amd's website for xp but the website is screwy. I think I have the right driver for it, it still only brings up the rv100 on xp. I go to linux and the driver picks right up, and it seems I don't even need catalyst to make it work for a multihead setup including the onboard video. When I go back and forth between windows and linux, I manually have to switch the cables around between cards. The rv100 is crap under linux, allows 3 screens under windows xp through amd's driver (with VGA and DVI), only allows one or the other outputs in linux. However, I've taken the rv710 out of another machine, and it wipes out my onboard audio and is not even listed in alsactl or lspci with the rv710 card in the machine. Does the same thing on the other machine. Once I removed it from the other machine, the onboard audio is restored. Must be using the same snd-hda-intel driver. Apparently with this card in place all I can use is the hdmi audio, but not even sure of that. Most postings show that they can at least show the onboard audio, but not with this card. Have tried everything, but can't change the behaviour of the add-in card.

That looks like an actual driver bug, so better for you to report on https://bugs.freedesktop.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=Mesa
As for catalyst-total-hd234k it's not like there's really a lot you could do once it doesn't work.

I went through all of the steps to do catalyst, but I ended up having a problem with the library for the GL, it wasn't new enough, and I think the rest of the dependencies are probably on their way to being unmaintained as well.

Arch is a bit in a transitioning phase atm with GL libs.
I know manjaro (which doesn't ship hd234k though) fixed this just last week.
Vi0L0 for the moment seems instead in "new kernels maintenance mode".. So, you'll have to wait, if any for catalyst.
On the other hand, bug hunting for radeon can never start too soon (=

HDMI audio might be the only reason why I need catalyst with this card...otherwise...it works in Linux at least...I think I've tried everything I could find...so bummer that...

yeah well I meant what kind of problem he had ;-) I do not doubt he has one !
I asked it because I am relunctant to install the blob knowing the free driver is doing a good job (for my own personnal use) and doing so I have a few tricks to by pass HDMI AUdio (getting a proper sound with Generic Audio Device) => for instance, one "hack" that is working for me is disabling the auto swap.

In case of catalyst and glvnd - as mentioned on previous page - there won't be any transition, at least not on catalyst packages side becasue I'm not a fan of this LD hacks and keeping glvnd parts/patches when they are completelly useles in combination with catalyst. Ofcourse I will have to use LD hacks once those patches will be merged upstream, but for now I decided to stay clean - at first I was just using older mesa packages in catalyst and catalyst-stable repos, now I updated to mesa-noglvnd and lib32-mesa-noglvnd, also on AUR: https://aur.archlinux.org/pkgbase/mesa-noglvnd/ + https://aur.archlinux.org/pkgbase/lib32-mesa-noglvnd/ (tho on AUR it comes with *mesa-libgl* packages which should be avoid by catalyst users, I left it there for package base to be more "general"). Future catalyst updates will come with mesa-noglvnd dependencies.
As for the catalyst-hd234k - I don't have any kind of confirmation that it's working on newer kernels, and till now I was almost 100% sure that only 1 user was trying/thinking about using it.
catalyst-total-hd234k@AUR is coming with newest kernel patches - this in combination with xserver 1.12 and pre-glvnd mesa or mesa-noglvnd should work, for sure it was working on 4.7 kernel , was broken on 4.8, don't know about newer ones. I don't have hw to check it.

Which patches are we talking about that would force you to use LD hacks?
Why mesa-noglvnd wouldn't be enough?

libglvnd patches on mesa side: https://git.archlinux.org/svntogit/pack … daf1b0910d
There were also patches on xserver side, but since we are using older xserver I guess we are not interested in this anyway.
Manjaro is working libglvnd problem around with LD hacks.
Why mesa-noglvnd wouldn't be enough?
I don't get the question, why it shouldn't be enought?

Oh ok, sorry, I thought we were talking about something else in addition to glvnd patch.
Manjaro isn't using any hacks btw. Or at least export has no LD thingy.

Yet they are putting most important libs, including libGL (which in libglvnd is more like a "unified"), into /usr/lib/fglrx/
and:
install -dm 755 "${pkgdir}"/etc/ld.so.conf.d
echo -e '/usr/lib/fglrx/' > "${pkgdir}"/etc/ld.so.conf.d/00-fglrx.conf
So here's your hack

I just got ahold of another ATI/AMD card a HD 6000 series and now I've switched them around between machines. The one machine will do three heads, but the audio doesn't work for either card. The other machine already has onboard ATI, and doesn't matter now on the audio it still works. But this machine doesn't allow three heads, just only what's available on the add-in card, with HDMI I could still get three heads though. Different style BIOSes for each machine. Or maybe it's the one machine with the Intel onboard that makes it difficult for the ATI add-in to work with onboard audio or something like that. HDMI audio doesn't seem to work for any of the ATI boards onboard or add-in. At least one of the onboard audios work however. No change for this series of ATI display cards...Catalyst not required for one unless I want to try to get HDMI audio to work, and catalyst probably required for the other one if I want to see if I can get something audio to work. I don't really have a need for the HDMI audio, onboard is fine, but still...as usual always requires something. Everything must be okay as long as you stay with one vendor or the other, but that would make things too easy.

I am completely in a fog with these new open source drivers. I have two R9 290X cards in my computer and getting both Xorg and OpenCL working simultaneously has been impossibly difficult.
First I installed xf86-video-amdgpu and old 16.40 version of opencl-amd. Xorg ran just fine but OpenCL applications didn't work due to old LibDRM version. Replacing xf86-video-amdgpu with xf86-video-amdgpu-pro and amdgpu-pro made possible to run OpenCL applications on TTYs but Xorg refused to start. Do you know if there is some certain combination of packages that I should install to get both features working?

You have tried with mesa/xf86-video-amdgpu and latest opencl-amd ( 17.10.429170-1 ) from AUR ?
edit :
if official libdrm lags , you can always try my aur llibdrm-git package.

Hi, I have some problem with vaapi and my r9 280x. I have no more acceleration for h264 and mpeg4 in both vaapi and vdpau. I'm running with mesa-git repo.

@H-Bloxx
Your card may be able to use the opensource amdgpu kernel module/driver, please post lspci -k

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.
clean chroot building not flexible enough ?
Try clean chroot manager by graysky

I'm already using amdgpu. I compiled the kernel myself with amdgpu enabled and it works for a while. Now since two months i have no more acceleration and I don't know what's the problem.

A little OT, i have no problems other than this with open drivers. I get a score like 1735 in superposition 1080p extreme preset with this old tahiti card.
Btw i get the same problem with an r9 390x on the same PC, so I don't know if it's mesa or dri not updating its files.

Prazola, It seems i was slow with refreshing, my post was intended for H-Bloxx .
That vainfo output does look weird and lacking .
The stock kernel has had support for cik / si card for a while now, have you tested if stock kernel has same issues ?

Thank you Lone_Wolf. The stock kernel shows the same output.
